JA StartUp 2022 Finals and Awards Ceremony

Creativity and innovation in science and entrepreneurship are considered important for the human evolution. The value of these concepts should be recognized, encouraged and promoted in the best possible way.  Junior Achievement Cyprus (JA Cyprus) continuing its efforts to encourage business ideas generation and innovation, organizes the Final and Award Ceremony of the programme “JA StartUp 2022” on Friday 3rd June 2022 between 16:30 – 20:00 at Tassos Papadopoulos Amphitheater of the Cyprus University of Technology in Limassol. The event is open to the public with a reservation at the link https://bit.ly/3aaAWUT until 27/05/2022.

The competition is the culmination of the efforts of more than 200 students, aged 18-30. During the event, 10 finalists from the 40 student companies created will have the opportunity to present their innovative business ideas and be evaluated through interviews by the Jury Committee.

The StartUp programme provides students with the opportunity to start their own business, giving them an idea of how their talents could be used to start a business. Students gain real experience in the business world: they find ideas for a business, create and research a business plan and take on all the responsibilities of running a business. They also develop attitudes and skills necessary for personal success and employability, as well as for understanding how businesses operate.

After two very successful years, especially that of 2020, during which the student start-up AID4ALL won the 1st place in the European competition, this year the programme was implemented in 3 Universities of Cyprus, with the support of 7 academics and 18 mentors.

The winning team will represent Cyprus in the European Competition of JA Europe, GEN-E 2022 which will be held on the 12 – 15 July and will be hosted by JA Estonia, in Tallinn.

The program is supported by ASBIS and the Research and Innovation Foundation. The event is held under the auspices of the Cyprus University of Technology.

The event will be greeted by the Mayor of Limassol, Mr. Nikos Nikolaides and the Rector of the Cyprus University of Technology, Professor Panayiotis Zaphiris.
