A Strong Synergy for Financial Literacy
For the 7th consecutive year, JA Cyprus in collaboration with the Association of Cyprus Banks aims at the enhancement and development of students’ financial literacy. Two different programmes are being implemented in primary and secondary education, namely ‘More than money’ and ‘Economics for Success’ accordingly.
Financial literacy prepares young people and guides them in developing a good consumer behavior. With the transition to adulthood, working life and the integration into society, this behavior becomes a way of life offering significant benefits both personally and socioeconomically.
Mentors coming from the banking and business sector also play a catalytic role in the success of these Programmes. They act as role models for the students and help them to understand financial concepts that prove to be very useful for the rest of their lives.
Since 2015, more than 4,000 students across Cyprus have been trained in Primary and Secondary education. 165 teachers and 160 mentors have participated and offered their knowledge and skills to develop students’ both financial and soft skills.
