2nd Student Competition JA Start Up 2021
Junior Achievement Cyprus announces the 2nd Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Final Competition, which is part of the StartUp 2021 programme. The competition will take place on the 1st of June at the Royal Hall (Nicosia) from 18:00 to 21:00.
The StartUp programme was implemented for the 2nd consecutive year in Universities of Cyprus with the aim of highlighting innovative ideas by students, as well as strengthening the business ecosystem with people able to face existing challenges. The programme gives the opportunity to students aged 18-30 to develop their business idea and helps them to use their skills in various areas and activities of the company. More specifically, they form teams and they work on the development of a business idea for three months ,with the support of teachers and mentors.
During the last academic year, the winning team of Cyprus managed to win 1st place in the European Competition with the team Aid4All of the University of Cyprus, making Cyprus and all of us proud.
This year, six universities and more than 230 young people participated, giving the impetus for the continuation of the programme in the coming years. The specialized jury, consisting of Mr. Andreas Papadopoulos, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Junior Achievement Cyprus, Mr. Spyros Charitou, Director of the Information Resources Department of the Embassy of the United States of America in Cyprus, Mr. Theodoros Loukaidis, Director at the Research and Innovation Foundation, and Mr. Costas Tziamalis, Director of Credit & FX Risk and Investor Relations of Asbis, will evaluate the business ideas of the 10 finalists.
The winning team will emerge after the evaluation of the Business Plan which was delivered in the first stage and the presentation of the business idea and the interviews that will be conducted by the jury. The winning team will represent Cyprus in the European Online Enterprise Challenge on June 29 – July 15, 2021, organized by Junior Achievement in Lithuania.
