JA Cyprus ‘More than Money’ Programme Successfully Implemented in Primary Schools for Second Consecutive Year

The Junior Achievement Cyprus ‘More than Money’ programme was successfully implemented for a second consecutive year. The programme is sponsored and supported by the Association of Cyprus Banks and under the aegis of the Ministry of Education and Culture.

This year, more than 400 students from 20 6th grade classes from 8 schools around Cyprus took part in the programme. Students had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with financial terms, supported by professionals from the banking sector. The trainers, who participated in the programme on a voluntary basis, shared their valuable knowledge and experiences with the students.

Objective of the Programme

More Than Money integrates money management concepts with helping children to identify their interests and learn basic business skills. By playing games, students in the 6th grade of primary school, understand the role of money in our lives and learn about earning, spending, sharing and saving money. Through the programme, children associate their skills and interests with potential future occupations and learn about the rules of work ethics and ethics. The programme is offered through 6 one-hour sessions. Business volunteers lead a class of primary students in sessions to understand how they can earn and manage money.

The programme is made possible thanks to financial support from the member banks of the Association of Cyprus Banks whose staff volunteer time to implement the programme. Junior Achievement Cyprus provide educational material and project guidance.
