SCI – TECH CHALLENGE PROGRAMME: “Discovering Career Opportunities in STEM Fields”
For yet another year, Junior Achievement Cyprus and ExxonMobil Cyprus are implementing the Sci-Tech Challenge programme, inspiring students to explore the world of science and technology. The programme is an initiative of JA Europe in collaboration with ExxonMobil and has been implemented for 15 years, having inspired tens of thousands of students across Europe to explore the possibilities of STEM education.
Science and technology play a crucial role in shaping a sustainable and innovative future. Through progress in these areas, people’s daily lives are improved, the development of societies is strengthened and solutions are created for modern global challenges. From advancements in medicine and energy to new communication technologies and sustainable transport, innovation is a key driver of progress.
The aim of the programme is to inspire students to explore studies in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and to discover the wide range of career opportunities offered by this field. At the same time, the programme contributes to the development of skills such as creative thinking, collaboration and problem-solving – skills essential for the future of work.
During this year, the programme is implemented in 10 schools across Cyprus, bringing about 400 students into contact with real challenges related to energy, the environment and sustainable development. ExxonMobil‘s volunteer mentors play a key role in the programme, who through online meetings, share their professional experience and serve as role models for a future career in STEM fields.
The student teams participating in the programme will take part in the National Sci-Tech Challenge 2026 Competition, which will take place on March 19, 2026, at the POED buildings, between the hours of 09:00 – 18:00. During the workshop, students will be invited to develop innovative solutions to a modern energy challenge. The winning team will have the opportunity to travel to Brussels to represent Cyprus at the European Sci-Tech Challenge, organized by JA Europe and ExxonMobil.
