85 students explored the world of cultural entrepreneurship through the Cultural BEES project

With great success, the seminar of the European project Cultural BEES took place on the 13th November 2025, at the Panos Solomonides Cultural Center in Limassol. The initiative aims to empower young people in the field of Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) through entrepreneurship.

Approximately 85 students from high schools across Cyprus had the opportunity to explore the richness of cultural heritage, get acquainted with the new digital Cultural BEES platform, and work in teams to develop innovative business ideas with a cultural and creative focus.

The participants created 15 initial ideas, which they presented in front of an audience, showcasing their imagination, creativity, and the importance of investing in youth as drivers of renewal in the cultural economy.

The ideas presented by the schools highlighted the students’ strong interest in cultural heritage and modern technology. From contemporary uses of traditional textiles and lace to new culinary variations of Cypriot delicacies, the students proposed solutions combining tradition with modern aesthetics. At the same time, many teams focused on the digital transformation of culture, proposing apps for promoting cultural events, exploration games, treasure hunt-type platforms, VR experiences, and experiential visit applications. These proposals demonstrate that Cypriot youth can successfully connect cultural heritage with modern entrepreneurial and technological thinking.

The seminar was co-organized by:

  • Junior Achievement Cyprus (JA Cyprus)
  • InnoEUsphere
  • Cyprus National Commission for UNESCO

This collaboration is a key pillar of the Cultural BEES project, which is coordinated by JA Europe and implemented by a consortium of 11 partners across 6 European countries. The program aims to equip young people with skills in entrepreneurship, innovation, and creativity, emphasizing cultural heritage as a driver of sustainable development.

Special thanks are extended to:

  • The Municipality of Limassol, for kindly providing the venue for the seminar.
  • Rialto Theatre, for offering tickets to students, enhancing young people’s access to culture.

Two more innovation camps has taken place in Nicosia, and one more is coming in January 2026 giving even more young people the opportunity to explore the prospects of the creative economy and develop their own cultural business ideas.
