10th Company Programme Trade Fair of Junior Achievement Cyprus
In a world that requires new approaches, Junior Achievement Cyprus has given new impetus over the last ten years, focusing its efforts on enhancing youth entrepreneurship and innovation. The main aim is to promote a more entrepreneurial culture, starting with our young people while they are still in school.
Entrepreneurship is a vital factor for innovation, competitiveness, and economic growth. Entrepreneurial skills are essential not only for entrepreneurs, but also for employees in all kinds of organisations. They are also necessary to enable children to become agents of social change bringing value and prosperity to their communities.
The Company Programme promotes the understanding and application of entrepreneurship principles through five steps. Students are invited to explore the idea, design their business, create and operate it, concluding its presentation at a Trade Fair. Through this programme, young people gain practical experiences and skills that equip them for the future, strengthening the entrepreneurial culture in Cyprus and preparing young people for the demands of the modern business world. The Trade Fair is essentially the result of the hard work put in by students and their teachers over the last six months. Ideas that were originally a mere thought come alive and their product or service takes shape. At the Trade Fair, students are given the opportunity to unfold their communication skills since they are invited to attract visitors of the mall to visit their kiosks, present their innovative product or service in the best possible way with the ultimate goal of convincing the consumers to buy it.
This year at the Trade Fair we will see about 300 students aged 15-19, from 37 schools all over Cyprus with the support of 92 teachers. During the two-day event, the specialized jury will also have a very important task to accomplish where it will evaluate the business ideas of the students as well as the quality of the stand of each team. This evaluation will significantly determine the selection of the ten best companies that will have the opportunity to present their ideas at the Annual Company of the Year Competition on the 26th April 2024. The ten finalist student companies will be announced on April 9th.
