THE MOMENT OF INNOVATION HAS COME – TIME FOR AN EDUCATIONAL CHANGE
Aid4all, The National Team Of Cyprus, Conquered The Top Of Europe
Winners at the Junior Achievement Europe
At the JA Europe Enterprise Challenge, held on Friday, June 26, 2020, the national team of the StartUp programme of Junior Achievement Cyprus impressed the audience and the jury committee with its promising business idea and won the first place in Europe.
The Cypriot team presented a communication system for deaf athletes, which aims to replace the hearing loss with the sense of touch during sports, individual or team. Through a transmitter (whistle) and a receiver (bracelet in the hand of the deaf athlete), deaf athletes are now able to perceive disruptions and respond.
The Cypriot team consisted of George Mishis, Christos Pitsillos, Constantinos Sarris, Anastasios Chrysostomou and Marinos Hadjistavris (University of Cyprus). The students had the support of the team of Junior Achievement Cyprus, their professor Dr. Daina Nikolaou and their mentor Mr. Nikos Ioannou (Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry).
This distinction is the culmination of the efforts of Junior Achievement Cyprus to encourage business ideas and innovation among young people on the island. Due to the recent adventure that humanity has experienced with the pandemic of the COVID-19, it is now more than ever necessary to implement universal business programs in public and private educational institutions of all levels. It is worth mentioning that Greece recently announced the universal introduction of the Entrepreneurship course in the country’s high schools, while a large percentage of European countries have included entrepreneurship as a compulsory or elective course.
